Applebee's in the House!!

Well it has been awhile since I last posted but I have a really good excuse. Work has been kicking my butt, but I'm not crying because we are soooooo close to opening! Our official open date is Feb. 5th and we have 2 days of training left this week. It has been a great challenge and I have missed my family dearly for the last 2 weeks but I have learned a lot and am very excited to open this store. It will totally rock this town! I will post some pics of opening day, and as usual if anyone comes and visits us I usually hook up some Apple time for everyone. Hope to see you soon!

Storm of the Century

If we have seemed distant lately it is because we suffered some damages from the last storm that swept through NorCal last Friday. Last Thursday we were warned that there was a series of 3 storms coming through but we didn't think much of it because nothing major ever really happens, right? WRONG!!!!!!

Adrienne and I woke up at 3a.m. to the sound of a freight train running by our house. It wasn't a freight train, but it was 70+ m.p.h. winds. We sustained quite a bit of damage to the property. Most notable was a loss of power. The roof was also ripped off of the barn, rain gutters ripped off and crumpled up into a heap, and we lost our big pine tree. It snapped at the base. We are pretty bummed about the tree because it was probably 30 years old and it was a nice shade tree in the summer. It almost landed on Adrienne's car but we were lucky. We were out of power for 5 days, and because we run water off of a well we were also out of water.

Needless to say, it has been a trying couple of days. We were totally unprepared so we were definitely taught a lesson. Our bishop was nice enough to loan us a vacant house that he owns for a couple of days so we could shower, do laundry and prepare meals. We are really fortunate that we were restored power after 5 days because we were originally told that it would be 2 weeks. I'll take some pics and post them. The downed tree is pretty impressive.
